How the day changes
Picture a den site where the cubs are close to emerging, or a leopard sighting a few minutes back down the track. A shared vehicle on a fixed circuit generally keeps moving, because someone else in the group wants to chase a different report. A private one can simply wait, or turn around.

You share a vehicle with other travellers booked on the same route. It's the more affordable option, but the day's schedule and pace are negotiated across the group — if a sighting runs long or someone wants to double back for it, the vehicle sticks to the group's plan instead.

How much more does a private vehicle cost?
It depends on your group size and trip length — you're covering the full vehicle and guide cost instead of splitting it across a shared group, so the premium is largest for solo travellers or couples and smaller for larger private parties. Can I switch from a shared to a private vehicle partway through my trip?
Sometimes, depending on availability and the camps involved — it's easier to decide upfront. If you're not sure, tell our team what's driving the interest (pace, photography, a special occasion) and they'll advise what's realistic.

Often yes — on a short trip, every hour matters more, and not losing time to group consensus can mean the difference between a rushed itinerary and a comfortable one. It's a reasonable place to spend extra if your trip is tight on days.
