Day by day
Day 1
Nairobi to the Maasai Mara
Leave Nairobi for the Mara, with the Great Rift Valley opening out along the road. Settle into camp, then take an afternoon game drive before dinner.
Day 2
A full day on the plains
A full-day game drive with a picnic lunch lets the day follow the wildlife rather than a fixed return time. Your guide will work with the season, recent movement and the landscape.
Day 3
Mara at first and last light
Start early, return to camp for breakfast and a slower middle of the day, then head out again in the afternoon. It is a more relaxed way to spend a second full Mara day.
Day 4
Maasai Mara to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, travel north to Naivasha and settle in for two nights. The afternoon is deliberately unhurried after the road journey.
Day 5
Lake Nakuru National Park
Make an early start for Lake Nakuru National Park, where woodland, lake shore and escarpment create a very different game-drive setting. A packed lunch allows time in the park before returning to Naivasha.
Day 6
Naivasha to Nairobi
Breakfast, check-out and the return to Nairobi. Airport timing or a city drop-off should be built around your onward plans.
